For all of you playing at home - an Update!

Ok - we have gone unconditional on the house!!! Which means in 5 days it is OURS! We then move in 2 days later! I tell you, we dont hesitate on these matters. Doest the saying "He who hestates is lost" come to mind... or perhaps "Fools rush in" ?? I prefer the first one!

I find myself increasingly looking forward to a morning swim and I know that Jeremy is excited about the pool - we have even bought some "accessories"!! by this I mean pool lounges, more goggles, big hats (for that mexican feel) and other pool time fun things!

Other items on the radar:

I am also moving office! Today is my last day in the dodgy old building! From Monday I will be on level 36 of the new Brisbane Square - enjoying my uninterupted views of Brisbane! From lunch today I will be enjoying myself at South BAnk for a team lunch! Yay!

Sunday is Jeremys Birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jeremy!

that is all for this morning - I better get going or I will never make it to work...

1day to go...

until the house becomes unconditional and then it is just counting down until moving!!

How busy have I been lately?? I tell you for once I am looking forward to how relaxing Christmas will be compated to now!

I am still at war with Optus - will let you know who the winner is there. unfortunately my bet is on the big company, but I am going to latch on like a bulldog! I am afraid that they pushed this little black duck too far!

this weekend just past we had my Dad visiting, it was lots of fun! We ate lots and had a few too many drinks :) but it was great to be able to see Dad again.

Anyway I better get back to my endless packing ... yay

House Update ... 14 days and counting

Until we OWN another house! Woo Hoo!

It is getting so real now! Just to bring you all up to speed

  • Finance is approved!
  • Building & Pest inspection done
  • Pool Inspection done
  • Packing up our house getting ready to MOVE!
Wow - how quick is all this going - in 2 weeks we will be moving onto our new house :)

OPTUS... incase I havent told you today ... SUCK!

Incase the title doesnt give it away, right now I am not thinking 'yes' Optus... I am thinking "NOOOOOOOO" Optus... As a loyal customer I feel that this week they have royally screwed me over and used up a good 3 hours of my life and a huge chunk of sanity.

whatever happened to Customer Service and Customer loyaty??? Why we cant let that get in the way of the rules and of course "terms and conditions" no matter how out dated or convoluted they are. We also wont worry that we never provided them in the first place. But as a company you can be happy to know that you have lost a long standing customer all because you followed some stupid rule.

I am also amazed that arranging the mortgage and contracts on buying our new house was quicker and easier then trying to get my phone line changed over. How odd is that???

The main thing that I am annoyed about - for anyone I havent already bored to tears with my rant...

Optus want to charge me a disconnection fee because they are unable to provide Foxtel in the street I am moving into (even though Foxtel are able to provide the service) and somehow I managed to get back under contract (after years of service) because they told me I needed to upgrade to Digital from their analogue service that they were discontinuing.. apparently when they make changes they whack you under another contract. Well .... every time I have moved I have not argued that they have charged me:
  • relocation fees
  • re-establishment fees
  • service fees
  • new phone number fees
  • the fact that I have had to take time off work to be home in the 10 hour period a technician "might" turn up and then put a hole in the wrong place in my floor!!!
  • I have let them start me as a new 12 month contract every time I moved as I know that is "their way"
I have moved a total of 3 times with them and never complained about this before - but honestly a) I have had enough AND b) they just crossed the line with me trying to charge me $200 to disconnect a service only because THEY CANT OFFER IT TO ME AT THE NEW HOUSE! I am not disconnecting here - THEY ARE!

I also asked them, if I was under contract what gave them the right to up the price and change the service within the contract period - apparently it is their right. They are not bound by any contract to us - we are bound to them and their whims... nice one...

So I implore you - get it off your chest - what company do you hate and why???

this post was bought to you by Optusnet... "why pay for what you dont need"

Ok - Editing this post to add - I feel more relaxed about this all, but still rather miffed on the level of customer service that you get these days. I think that it is so sad to think that this is the sort of society that we are turning into... in talking to other people I think that everyone has a story to tell about how they have been treated by big companies - even the lovely person who was helping me today (not being sarcastic - he was actually good) had a story to tell where he too had been treated bad by another "nameless" company.

House Update...

Ok - this is a quick update, but the house buying is going well so far. We have had the building and pest inspection and that went well. Finance seems to be going well, title searches are under way and we are looking for tenants for our old property. (pictured below)

I will be so sad to leave this house, it is such a great house with a wonderful backyard - but there are things that I have missed while living here - a good sized kitchen, a proper dining area, an ensuite and of course a pool!

Our settlement date has been moved to the 20th December, with the contract going unconditional from the 13th December (my Dads Birthday).

Yesterday I realised that I need to change all my phone, tv, internet etc... over for when we moved. I was rather annoyed as I was on hold for a while and suddenly got a message - that their call centre was closed for the night and to call back ... thank you and then it disconnected!! The nerve of them! I thought that we lived in a 24 hour society - well I wish we did.
