OPTUS... incase I havent told you today ... SUCK!
Incase the title doesnt give it away, right now I am not thinking 'yes' Optus... I am thinking "NOOOOOOOO" Optus... As a loyal customer I feel that this week they have royally screwed me over and used up a good 3 hours of my life and a huge chunk of sanity.
whatever happened to Customer Service and Customer loyaty??? Why we cant let that get in the way of the rules and of course "terms and conditions" no matter how out dated or convoluted they are. We also wont worry that we never provided them in the first place. But as a company you can be happy to know that you have lost a long standing customer all because you followed some stupid rule.
I am also amazed that arranging the mortgage and contracts on buying our new house was quicker and easier then trying to get my phone line changed over. How odd is that???
The main thing that I am annoyed about - for anyone I havent already bored to tears with my rant...
Optus want to charge me a disconnection fee because they are unable to provide Foxtel in the street I am moving into (even though Foxtel are able to provide the service) and somehow I managed to get back under contract (after years of service) because they told me I needed to upgrade to Digital from their analogue service that they were discontinuing.. apparently when they make changes they whack you under another contract. Well .... every time I have moved I have not argued that they have charged me:
I also asked them, if I was under contract what gave them the right to up the price and change the service within the contract period - apparently it is their right. They are not bound by any contract to us - we are bound to them and their whims... nice one...
So I implore you - get it off your chest - what company do you hate and why???
this post was bought to you by Optusnet... "why pay for what you dont need"
Ok - Editing this post to add - I feel more relaxed about this all, but still rather miffed on the level of customer service that you get these days. I think that it is so sad to think that this is the sort of society that we are turning into... in talking to other people I think that everyone has a story to tell about how they have been treated by big companies - even the lovely person who was helping me today (not being sarcastic - he was actually good) had a story to tell where he too had been treated bad by another "nameless" company.

- relocation fees
- re-establishment fees
- service fees
- new phone number fees
- the fact that I have had to take time off work to be home in the 10 hour period a technician "might" turn up and then put a hole in the wrong place in my floor!!!
- I have let them start me as a new 12 month contract every time I moved as I know that is "their way"

I can't understand why Optus wish to shoot themselves in the foot in this way. They have not only lost a "valued" long standing customer but... they have given you good ammunition to let others know of your shabby treatment.
I have to tell you. I'm seriously thinking of changing but will the next big conglomerate treat me any better? Most likely not.... very sad to say.
Good luck and keep fighting the good fight. Perhaps Optus will see the light and acknowledge the value in what you have had to say. Sounds to me like they owe you!!!

Thanks Mum. I know what you mean - is one evil better then another? They know that they have one over us at the end of the day, we couldnt live without communications - especially ME!!! :)

I completely agree! I have similar horror stories about telstra so I left. I'm now connected with a small copmany and much happier for it.

I am thinking of a smaller company - we have been researching and we found one that is very popular amongst some users, but not a big player as such... maybe then we will get some more love!

My angry is with Sunsuper - it took them EIGHT years and 5 lots of certificates for them to realise i am NOT Mrs Toni Bilson but rather Mrs Toni Sargent... now I'm divorced they have finally decided to change it - but wait - not before opening a new account on me and charging me exorbanant amounts of fees on the tiny amount that had been deposited in there. Hmm what else... oh yes, when I first got married and sent the documents to change my name - they simply changed me to a mrs and gave my super to my (now ex) husband! I of course being stupidly in love at the time thought "oh well, we'll be together for good, doesnt matter" of course seeing that we seemed to move every 6 months I have now lost the paperwork to proove it and they wont budge (lawsuit lawsuit lawsuit).
Stupid conglomerates - am changing to another super company as soon as they fix the dual account situation (so in like 8 more years - or when i scream at the next person on the phone).
